On May 4th, 2018, Piano Fondue, Madison’s original dueling pianos, is returning to their former home, The Brink Lounge on East Washington Ave. Every first Friday of the month, dueling pianos will rock the great halls of the Brink. Piano Fondue was founded in 2005 and had been a regular institution all around town (Pedros, Madisons, Babes, Olive Bar, and of course the Brink). Their expertise in the field led to their involvement at the Ivory Room Piano Bar when it became a dueling pianos bar in 2012, and the two original Piano Fondue baby grands were taken off the road.
As of April 15th, the original traveling pianos are leaving the Ivory Room and hitting the road once again, although this time they’re joining the other seven baby grands that Piano Fondue has been using for their road shows over the past six years. Their nine baby grand pianos and fleet of trucks and trailers will continue to criss-cross the upper midwest every weekend bringing their unique show to thousands of fans at bars, restaurants, casinos, weddings, festivals, and fundraisers.
But Piano Fondue could not turn away from their Madison roots. Joshua Dupont and Francie Phelps, the husband-and-wife owners of the company, returned hat-in-hand to Elizabeth and Curt Brink, and The Brink Lounge welcomed their prodigal son back for monthly shows. Every First Friday of the month will find Piano Fondue set up in the round in the middle of the Brink’s giant lounge. Get ready to sing along like the old days. Tickets are $7 in advance or $10 at the door. Reserved tables are also available online.
